What are you up to today??

After a week of sick kiddos we spent the morning cleaning, and I've been sneaking in some sewing. 😉

Since I mostly only paper piece, my design boards are sheet metal. 😳😬😂 And then I usually cover them with batting. (It's seriously the best thing ever!!) I didn't have anywhere to put my numbers and they kept getting in the way so I hung up this small piece last night and love that I can easily hang up my progress sections as I go. 🙌 (Plus it's pretty to look at! 😍)

I bought some really strong small magnets from Amazon and since they are clear you can hardly see them, but they are strong enough to hold up a few layers which is awesome!

What are your favorite hacks to make your sewing space work better??

The last star. 🌟

Somehow I had missed making one start for my Simple Star quilt, and while trying to find all my supplies I find the fabric I had cut out for it... So I decided to take a break from tiny piecing and finish this last block!! Wahoo! 🙌

I'll procrastinate a little more and sew the rows together and then celebrate another finished quilt top! 🙌🤣🙄😉

Please tell me I'm not the only one who procrastinates your current project by working on all the other projects you procrastinated earlier. They'll get done one day, right?! 😜

I love how these turned out! This is such a fun playful font!! But I won't lie, it's not for the faint in heart... Some of these took too long for me, but I'm a lazy quilter. 😜 I like quick and efficient. 😆 But it was SO worth it!

I've got all the fabric cut for the punctuation marks and will be seeing them tonight and tomorrow... I went from a quilting drought to a quilting monsoon. 😳 But it's fun!! It's good to get back into it. I feel like my creative juices are starting to flow again! 🙌🫶

(How do you make sure you have good balance in your life when you are working on a big project?? I'm definitely an all-in type person when I have something to do. But this definitely is not sustainable. 🥱😴😜)

Working on my Popsicle Sticks Numbers & Punctuatio

Working on my Popsicle Sticks Numbers & Punctuation Marks pattern. (It's available for presale and should be released by the end of the month! 🙌) I finished all the numbers, pulling fabric from my scrap bins. I decided to do the same with the punctuation marks.

I don't tend to use my scraps very much, so it's been a lot of fun to go through them all and find some amazing scraps and a lot of my favorite prints!

I might not use scraps but I do save them. 😜

Do you like using your scraps? Do you save your scraps?? Foundation paper piecing is such a great method for using scraps! Especially my alphabet patterns since they have some smaller sections. 💖

Most of all I just love color!! 😍 And you can't beat a good rainbow! 🌈

I've been posting progress photos in my stories. But these are the first of the Popsicle Sticks numbers that I've finished. 🫶

The rest are super close to being finished too. I work on all of them at the same time, but I've definitely spent hours making them... Now I'm wondering if they really do take hours to make just one?? @nightquilter I don't think I've ever actually timed myself, but now I'm nervous to. 😬😂🤣🤦‍♀️

Anyway, I love how these are turning out. I am using only scraps from my scrap bins, and it's been so fun to play with these older prints! 😍

Today I sent out an email spotlighting CJ Jolly's quilt and I wanted to share here too! 🫶

CJ shared with my last month that her stunning River Pond quilt won BEST IN SHOW AND 1st Place in Modern Quilts at the Mississippi Valley Quilt Show/2022!! @mvquiltersguild 🎉🙌💖

I am so excited for CJ and Shelly @quiltstitchingbyshelly who did the beautiful quilting! 😍 CONGRATS!! 💗 It's such a stunning quilt!!

This and the other ribbon winning quilts from the show will be hanging in the @figgeartmuseum in Davenport, IA from March 14-19. If you're in the area I hope you'll stop by and check them out! (Museum admission is not required to see the quilts.)
