Meet Starburst:
I designed Starburst in January of 2013.
This was my original Starburst “logo” showing three different ways that you can use the block. (And add that the center one can be a solid star without the square in the very middle.) Can you tell that I like options in my designing?! 😉
I’ve made this block the most for mug rugs – for swaps and gifts. It’s an easy way to highlight fabrics and color combinations. While also making something quick and small.
I’ve been collecting Anna Maria Horner’s original Good Folks collection over the years and I decided a few years ago that I want to use my Starburst pattern for it. I’ve come up with a lot of mockup ideas, one of my favorites is below…
Here I’m trying to decide if I want a light background or a dark background. I really do love both!
I decided to not go with this layout though, and I’m actually going to go a lot simpler route, so I can keep the focus on the fabrics rather than the pattern. (one of the times I really want the fabric to show rather than the pattern… usually I like to make the pattern pop!)
So here’s what I’m going with…
I don’t know if it’ll be exactly like this, but close. I’ll do a variation of centers to add some interest. I think. I need to go back and check what my exact plan was before I continue. lol. I think I have all the fabric cut out though. At least I have some blocks made already.
Your Starburst projects
I only have a few photos, but I have really loved to see your creativity come through with this block!
That first mini quilt by Mary is sooo stunning!
What do you think??
I’d love to hear what you think!
Do you like it?!
