FBP Community Rules

Our FREE Facebook community is a place to come together to share what you’re making using From Blank Pages patterns. It’s a great place to ask questions, ask for opinions, share your progress and finished photos, share tips, help answer other’s questions, and most importantly cheer each other and give support for one another in their creative journey.

As you can see we run a tight-knit community, and we aim to preserve the quality of the group at all times.

Which is why we have created and enforce these rules on a daily basis.

Please read through all of them as we roll with a zero-tolerance policy and you will be removed and banned if you break any of the rules.

So with that being said, let’s dive in…

1. NO SELF PROMO. EVER.

No self-promotion is allowed except where otherwise explicitly stated.

Also, no promoting of other patterns, blogs, sites, designers, etc. This is strictly for sharing/discussing projects made with From Blank Pages patterns, or discussing relevant quilting tips and techniques.

So, what do we consider self-promotion?
Definition of self-promotion:

– Selling anything – that means products, services, courses, events and programs…anything that feeds your bottom line.

– Promoting your products, shop, blog, tutorials, courses, free or otherwise.

– Posting a link to your website, your social profiles or even your personal FB profile.

– Posting affiliate links. That’s just wrong.

– Posting your own content in the group and not in a specific (and relevant) thread.

This includes posting links to surveys or creating polls or surveys in the group, posting photos with your social handles, URLs or business name on them.

– Posting “free” offers. These will be deleted and you will be removed…even if you have the best of intentions.

– Posting content that is the length of a blog post, even if there is no link attached.

If we have to scroll, scroll, scroll to read your post, we encourage you to post it on your own site and not in the group as it will be deleted.

**Note: We may break our own rule and promote something if we feel as though it is of service to the group. We reserve that right as it is our group and community.  If you are not cool with that, it’s best you remove yourself now.**

2. #ASK #SHARE #GIVE & #[PATTERN NAME]

I love organization! To help keep the group organized, ALWAYS use the appropriate hashtag to go with your post.
The ONLY way to post inside this free FB Group is to keep your posts within these 3 categories: Ask, Praise, Give.

ASK = Any question you may have around your project (still no links allowed) that you’re stumped on.

Examples include, Asking opinions on design steps such as picking colors or fabrics, or color placement, design layout, etc. Asking questions about techniques used, or assembly instructions, etc.

SHARE = Any wins you are celebrating OR any fellow members you wish to spotlight and celebrate.

This is the perfect to tag to share what you’re working on, what you’ve finished, or any progress you’re making. You can also share what other’s have made (with their permission if using their photo) and praise them for their beautiful work!

Include which pattern(s) you are using. You can also include what inspired you, what you are loving or not loving about where you’re at, or anything else you want to share about the process or who it’s for.

If you are combining a From Blank Pages pattern with another pattern, please give credit to the other designers.

Again, NO links allowed and no requests to PM you to “find out more”.

You will be removed without warning.

GIVE = Any tips, strategies, lessons or insights you have learned along the way.

Again, there are no links allowed. No exceptions.

[PATTERN NAME] = If your post includes refrence to a specific pattern, add a tag with the pattern name, ie #CelestialStar, to make it easy for others to see what has been made with the pattern or how it was quilted, etc.

If you do not use #Ask #Share or #Give in your post, it will be deleted without warning.

3. NO POSTING OF VIDEOS

No posting or sharing your own videos (live or pre-recorded)—whether it’s from your personal profile, your FB page, your YouTube account or your website.

We do not have the time to watch your videos to make sure they are promo-free and/or appropriate, which is why there are no videos allowed.

Even if you think that your post is ‘intro’ in nature or giving ‘value’, this is a no-go in this group.

Do a creative intro with written words.

We like reading!

4. NO SHARING OF PATTERNS

ALL patterns are for individual use ONLY. This goes for From Blank Pages patterns and everyone else’s. Sharing, selling, copying, distributing patterns that are not your own creation is not only copyright infringement, it is unethical.

By joining this group you agree that you will never share a pattern with someone else (by FBP or any other designer) without express written permission. Instead, direct your family, friends, and followers to the site where you purchased the pattern.

This goes for FREE patterns as well. Let others enjoy the experience of *meeting* the designers by visiting their sites to get the patterns for themselves.

Help bring awareness that just because you purchase a pattern does not mean it is yours to pass around. Let’s help support the great designers that work hard to bring the best to the quilting community.

If you do not agree with this, do not join the group. There is a no tolerance for sharing content that is not yours to share.

5. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUESTS TO PM YOU

Do not post in the group and ask people to PM you to find out more about what you offer, how you can help or to work with you.

Your comments (and YOU) will be removed.

6. BE NICE

Be polite.

Don’t be rude.

No second chances.

That means respecting people’s feelings, privacy and rights to their work.

If you’re rude or disrespectful or spammy…you will be banned, mmmm’kay?

7. BE HELPFUL

Provide genuine and helpful feedback and suggestions to others.

Ask questions.

Give answers.

Be the kind of supportive friend that you want and need on your creative journey.

Remember: We are all here to help each other…so give more than you take, please.

8. NO SWEARING

Please keep it clean. Let’s keep this a positive place where all feel welcome comfortable to be.

9. DON’T PM ADMINS

If you have a question about why your post was deleted, it’s because you broke the rules.

If you were removed from the group, it’s because you broke the rules.

If you want to know whether you can post something in the group (and you are using it as a way of remotely promoting yourself and/or your business), it’s probably best you don’t post it.

Finally, we ask that you respect the time of our Admins and owners and not PM them through Facebook as they will not respond.

And if you don’t agree with ALL of these rules, kindly remove yourself from the group.

Other than that, let’s have some fun!

**Note: These rules are subject to change without notice. It’s on you to keep up.**

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS GROUP

1. Don’t come in with a motive.

Instead, show up with the intention to connect, serve and help, have fun, be ready to create, inspire, and be inspired.

2. When creating a post, make it fun, original and helpful.

Remember, you MUST use #Ask, #Share, or #Give, in your post…otherwise it will be deleted.

3. Show up daily for a set amount of time and then get back to business.

If you’re living in this group, you aren’t making beautiful things. We want to see your creativity and your talents! We love to connect, but we also want to see you grow and make beautiful things.

4. If you show up just to post your content and not help out your fellow community members, they notice.

It’s a small group and while it may seem like people don’t notice your presence and how you show up, they do.

5. Share your thoughts and experiences because they are valuable to others.

We’re not gonna lie, this journey is a long and complicated one.

The more insights and guidance, the better!

6. Don’t be afraid to share.

We all have different strengths and are at different skill levels. Everyone is welcome!

Don’t ever feel like what you’ve made isn’t good enough to share, whether you are new to quilting or have been doing it for decades. We love to see it all and will cheer you on no matter where you’re at.

*big sigh of relief*

That was a long one!

If you’ve read all of these rules and still want to be a part of what this group is all about…then WELCOME!

We are excited to get to know you!

Now let’s connect and have some fun, shall we?
