Poinsettia

Meet Poinsettia:

Poinsettia is my newest pattern, and first pattern I designed in ~2 years!

In 2020 I took a bit of a break from quilting and designing, and I wasn’t sure if I’d be back… I didn’t know what the future would be. But a turn of events, and lots of time to heal and get other parts of my life in order, led me to coming back to this space and I couldn’t be happier!!

It’s been so much fun coming back into this part of my life, despite it being slowly… and not as consistent as I want to be, it’s been a great reminder of how much I love creating and quilting and what a big part of my life quilting has become.

Poinsettia quilt block
4 - 9 inch blocks for a pillow. I rotated the block sections so the center would be a star, rather than 4 complete stars.

I will admit that I was really afraid that I forgot how to quilt, or that I would have lost my ability to design a good pattern, but Poinsettia did not disappoint.

It was a matter of patience, and keep tweaking, keep tweaking, until it was just right! I think that’s maybe one strength I gained over the break… to trust the process and not stop too soon.
Β
To keep pushing through until I loved it. Trusting that there is a part of me that still has that talent and ability to create something wonderful.

And I think that’s a good message for all of us.
Β
Sometimes we doubt the process, or we doubt ourselves. But we don’t need to do that. Just add some patience and keep going! Keep going, keep trusting, and allow that creative part of us to come out and show us what it can do! ;D
Poinsettia charity block, by Diane Bohn

This was the first tester charity block I made. I thought I was doomed to not be a good quilter anymore, because some of the center seams didn’t match up. Then I realized that it was the wrong size! lol. I had printed the pattern templates out wrong, and I didn’t know.

My blocks sense have lined up better and I’m relieved to know I still got it. haha!

I guess quilting is like riding a bike. πŸ™‚

Poinsettia Possibilities

Here are a few mockups I made to show some of the different ways you can use this block.

Of course there are WAY MORE possibilities than this! You can use the coloring pages to help you come up with something that is all yours!

Your Poinsettia projects

Since it’s a new pattern, I have mostly only seen tester blocks for the charity quilt. I’ll share those and some of the other projects I’ve found.

I can’t wait to add your projects to the collection. Let me know if you make something with this! I’d love to see!

Β

I’m ready to start sewing all the charity blocks together, so stay tuned for more photos! It’s going to be awesome!!

What do you think??

What lessons have you learned through quilting, or how has it helped you in some way??
Β
Quilting is fun, and that’s great if it’s just something we do to enjoy our time. But I also think that sometimes, and for many of us, it’s so much more than that.
Β
I’d love to hear your experiences with quilting.

I’d love to hear what you think!

Do you like it?!

Which project is your favorite?
