Giant Granny Square by Diane Bohn

Giant Granny Square

Meet Giant Granny Square:

I first made a Giant Granny Square quilt when my oldest was a baby. It was when granny square quilt blocks were all the rage! But I was too lazy to make a lot of blocks for a baby quilt, so I made one that was extra big. lol.

I added some large hand quilting and I LOVE it!

It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my youngest that I revisited this pattern and finally made it into a pattern.

I didn’t know about the setting triangles the first time I made it, so the pattern has some improvements from my original quilt.

Other Giant Granny Square options:

Here are some other layout ideas if you want to make larger quilts with the pattern on repeat.

I think the second one would make the perfect picnic blanket!

What do you think??

This is one of my few patterns that is not foundation pieced. The pattern includes lots of tips for choosing colors, and tips for quicker assembly AND how to make it totally scrappy.

I hope you like it! I’d love to see what you make!

I’d love to hear what you think!

Do you like it?!
